Say Goodbye to: Brooks Conrad, Geovany Soto

MI – Brooks Conrad
Acquired: August 17th, 2010 ($2 FAAB)
Released: September 21st, 2010
Braves utility player Brooks Conrad was signed late in the season for the second-straight campaign, hoping to provide some pop at the middle-infield position. Having previously dumped much-better Omar Infante, Conrad was recruited as yet another stop-gap in the middle infield for the RoadRunners. When his at-bats started to diminish again, he became less useful, obviously.

C – Geovany Soto
Acquired: In Trade, August 17th, 2010 (from The Pi Train)
Released: September 21st, 2010
Geovany Soto was a throw-in to the August deadline deal that brought Albert Pujols and Dan Hudson (along with Yovani Gallardo) to the RoadRunners in our quest for the title. Soto was acquired on the DL, though he started the following week after coming back from a strained shoulder. That same shoulder is the reason for Soto’s release, as with the Cubs officially eliminated from the NL Central and Wild Card races, Soto underwent season-ending surgery yesterday to correct the injury, and he should be ready for Spring Training.
