Notes:

  • Ted Lilly (shoulder) threw a successful bullpen session Tuesday and is slated to make a<div_h name=”hidden_note_1″ id=”hidden_2″>rehab start Friday for High-A Rancho Cucamonga. Lilly’s shoulder really doesn’t appear to be an issue at this point, as the Dodgers stashed him on the disabled list because they don’t know what else to do with him. The club might have to trade either Chris Capuano or Aaron Harang in order to clear room on the roster for Lilly, who could also eventually be a trade candidate himself. “It’ll work itself out,” said manager Don Mattingly. Lilly, who is in the final year of his contract, was having the best season of his career before getting injured. He was 5-1 with a 3.14 ERA before going down.  (Rotoworld, CBS Sports)
  • Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman heads into Wednesday’s showdown with the Phillies with a favorable history against starter Roy Halladay. Freeman is batting .467 (7 for 15) with three homers, nine RBI and two walks in his career against Halladay. Freeman homered on opening day against the Phillies, going 3 for 4 with three RBI. Freeman’s opening-day home run comes after a torrid spring, in which Freeman hit .342 (26 for 76) with seven homers and 16 RBI in 26 games. (CBS Sports)
  • After going hitless in the season opener Monday, Giants outfielder Hunter Pence bounced back Tuesday with his first multi-hit game of the season. Pence went 2 for 4 — two singles — and struck out twice against the Dodgers. Pence is batting .286 (2 for 4) with no RBI or runs through two games. He hit .333 (24 for 72) with two triples, three homers, eight doubles and 13 RBI in 25 spring games. (CBS Sports)
  • Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun collected his first RBI of 2013 on opening day and added to that total Tuesday night against the Rockies. He went 1 for 4 with a home run in a 8-4 loss. The 29-year-old launched a two-run shot off starter Jorge De La Rosa in the third inning.  Braun has gone 2 for 8 with three RBI through two games.(CBS Sports)
