  • 2B Logan Forsythe, Padres ($2 bid, Add to Actives at MI)
  • RP Luke Gregerson, Padres ($0 bid, Add to Actives)
  • 2B Kolten Wong, Cardinals ($1 bid, Reserve)

Up:

  • SP Ben Sheets

Move:

  • CM Todd Frazier (from UT)
  • UT Scott Moore (from MI)

Down:

  • RP Brad Lincoln
  • RP John Axford
  • 3B Chris Johnson (from CM)

Cut:

  • RP Juan Carlos Oviedo
  • MI Elian Herrera
  • RP Jose Arredondo

Notes:

  • MI Elian Herrera was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on July 13th.
  • 2B Kolten Wong is a minor-league protectable prospect for the Cardinals. Today was the deadline for minor-league protections.
  • RP Juan Carlos Oviedo’s path back to the majors took a major detour, as he is now undergoing Tommy John surgery at Triple-A New Orleans since being activated from the Restricted List.
  • The only other minor league prospect added to WBRL rosters was D’Backs OF A.J. Pollock, added by X-Men for a $4 bid.

Roster Moves – Week 15 – July 12th, 2012

FAAB Acquisitions:

  • MI Scott Moore, Astros ($2 bid, Add to Actives)
  • SP Ben Sheets, Braves ($1 bid, Reserve)
  • RP Juan Carlos Oviedo ($1 bid, Reserve)

Up:

  • C Devin Mesoraco

Down:

  • MI Elian Herrera

Cut:

  • SP Dallas Keuchel
  • SP Christian Friedrich
  • C Steve Clevenger

Notes:

  • Keuchel had been optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on July 5th.
  • Juan Carlos Oviedo, due to sketchy documentation and subsequent government crackdown, is the former Leo Nunez, closer for the Marlins for several seasons.
  • Longer week due to the All-Star Game at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, MO – the NL won 8-0, and MVP was Giants OF Melky Cabrera

Roster Moves – Week 14 – July 3rd, 2012

FAAB Acquisitions:

  • C Steve Clevenger, Cubs ($1 bid, Add to Actives)

Up:

  • 3B Todd Frazier (to UT)

Down:

  • OF Jose Tabata (from UT)
  • C Devin Mesoraco

Cut:

  • 1B Matt Adams

Notes:

  • Adams had been optioned to Triple-A Memphis on June 22nd, and Allen Craig has taken the majority of the at-bats at 1B now that he’s healthy, and CM Matt Carpenter stays up for the Cardinals as he can cover 3B as well.
  • It was announced shortly after the transaction deadline that OF Jose Tabata had been optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis. I guess the Pirates brass thought the same thing we did.
  • The RoadRunners were out-bid on new Padres 2B Alexi Amarista. We bid $4, and Goodfellas bid $5.  2B/OF Elian Herrera would have been released had that pickup been successful.

Roster Moves – Week 12 – June 19th, 2012

FAAB Acquisitions:

  • RP Jose Arredondo, Reds ($1, Add to Actives)
  • RP Josh Lindblom, Dodgers ($1, Add to Actives)

Up:

  • MI Elian Herrera
  • OF Jose Tabata (to UT)

Move:

  • SS Zack Cozart (from MI)
  • CM Todd Frazier (from UT)

Down:

  • SS Troy Tulowitzki
  • 3B Chris Johnson (from CM)
  • RP Shawn Camp

Cut:

  • RP Wilton Lopez
  • C Welington Castillo

Notes:

  • Cubs C Welington Castillo was activated from the 15-Day DL (knee) on Thursday, June 14th, and was optioned to Triple-A Iowa four days later (June 18th) with the activation of starting C Geovany Soto. Castillo still retains rookie eligibility.
  • Braves RP Kris Medlen was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday, June 15th, but in a surprise move, Jair Jurrjens (picked up by Misogynistic Padres for $0) was named the interim starter for the Braves, while Medlen will stay in middle-relief.
  • Astros RP Wilton Lopez was placed on the 15-Day DL with a strained elbow on June 15th.
  • Former 2012 RoadRunner Cody Ransom was picked up by his 3rd WBRL team of the season, with Shoeless Jews snagging the now Brewer for a $1 bid. He was released May 29th by Cover Zero.

Roster Moves – Week 11 – June 12th, 2012

FAAB Acquisition:

  • RP Kris Medlen, Braves ($3 bid, reserve)

Up:

  • SS Troy Tulowitzki
  • SP Mike Minor
  • OF Tony Campana

Move:

  • MI Zack Cozart (from SS)

Down:

  • SP Brad Lincoln
  • MI Elian Herrera

Cut:

  • 2B Alex Castellanos

Notes:

  • Braves RP Kris Medlen was originally drafted by Get Off Kong! in the 2012 WBRL Minor League draft (first round, 4th overall), but was released last week (June 5th). He has been sent down to Triple-A Gwinnett to stretch out as a starter, and will return to the Braves rotation in a few weeks. He carries an $8 salary for the 2012 season.
  • SS Troy Tulowitzki is already on rehab assignment with Triple-A Colorado Springs, and should be activated when eligible this Friday, June 15th.
  • 2B/OF Alex Castellanos was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque yesterday, June 11th.
  • In FAAB action, I had bid $2 on Pirates OF Alex Presley, but Get Off Kong! bid $13 (Shoeless Jews bid $6, and Cover Zero bid $0).
  • My contingency for Presley was Padres Triple-A 2B prospect Jedd Gyorko, who may be on the verge of getting called up.  I bid $0, but Get Off Kong! bid $1.

Roster Moves – Week 10 – June 5th, 2012

FAAB Acquisitions:

  • RP Shawn Camp, Cubs ($2 bid, add to actives)
  • RP Brad Lincoln, Pirates ($1 bid, add to actives)
  • 2B/OF Alex Castellanos, Dodgers ($1, reserve)

Up:

  • 2B/3B Elian Herrera (to MI)
  • 3B Chris Johnson (to CM)
  • OF Tony Campana

Move:

  • SS Zack Cozart (from MI to SS)

Down:

  • 1B Matt Adams (from CM)
  • OF Jose Tabata
  • SS Troy Tulowitzki (15-Day DL)
  • SP Mike Minor

Cut:

  • SP Tim Stauffer
  • SP Jake Westbrook
  • SP Archie Bradley

Notes:

  • On May 31st, SS Troy Tulowitzki was placed on the 15-Day DL with a strained left groin.
  • SP Tim Stauffer has no timetable for his return from a sprained elbow injury, so I needed the roster space.
  • SP Jake Westbrook has lost his effectiveness, with an 8.55 ERA and 1.850 WHIP over the past three weeks.
  • 2B/OF Alex Castellanos was the fallback bid for Braves SS Andrelton Simmons.  I bid $6, and Get Off Kong! bid $7 (he had already released him). GOK had bid on Castellanos as 3rd contingency for $2.
  • A contingency bid for Shawn Camp was Pirates (and 2012 RoadRunner) Jason Grilli. Shoeless Jews got him for $1.

Roster Moves – Week 9 – May 29th, 2012

Up:

  • 1B Matt Adams (to CM)
  • 3B Todd Frazier (to UT)
  • OF J.D. Martinez

Down:

  • 3B Chris Johnson (from CM)
  • 2B Elian Herrera (from UT)
  • OF Tony Campana

Notes:

  • Last Tuesday, May 22nd, Cubs C Welington Castillo was placed on the 15-Day DL with a sprained right knee.

Roster Moves – Week 7 – May 15th, 2012

FAAB Acquisitions:

  • IF Elian Herrera, Dodgers ($0 bid, add to actives at UT)
  • SP Christian Friedrich, Rockies ($5 bid, add to actives)
  • SP Archie Bradley, Diamondbacks prospect ($0 bid, reserve)

Cuts:

  • RP Bryan Shaw
  • UT Cody Ransom
  • 2B Daniel Descalso

Notes:

  • The RoadRunners came up short on bidding for new (temporary) San Diego closer Dale Thayer.  Bids: $15 (Misogynistic Padres), $6 (RoadRunners), $5 (Get Off Kong).
  • IF Elian Herrera was called up by the Dodgers to play 3B, and he can hit for average and has speed.  Last week’s pickup of Cody Ransom was a week late, as he put up an 0-fer the week, and Ryan Roberts is back in place again.  From RotoWorld: The 27-year-old Herrera was batting .358 with a .381 on-base percentage, nine stolen bases, and he stole at least 30 bases in each of the previous three seasons.
  • SP Friedrich re-joins the RoadRunners, this time in the major leagues. Filling in for injured Rockies starters, he now has 17 strikeouts through two outings. Sure, they’ve come against the Padres and Giants, but that’s still awfully impressive, and what was supposed to be a short stint in the majors now seems poised to turn into something more. He struck out 10 Giants and allowed 1 run in seven innings last night. Friedrich was the RoadRunners first selection in the 2010 Minor League draft (1st Round, 2nd drafted, 4th overall).
  • It was time to pull the trigger on picking up Diamondbacks pitching prospect Archie Bradley, who should be a great keeper.  The right-hander is currently 5-1 with a 2.14 ERA and 0.88 WHIP with 44 K’s in 40 innings (and only 14 hits!) at Single-A South Bend.
  • Padres SP Tim Stauffer was activated from the 15-Day DL yesterday in time for his start at Washington.  Stauffer was a bit rough, allowing 7 hits, 3 walks and 5 K’s in 5 innings. 4 runs were allowed (3 Earned). He also allowed a home run to Bryce Harper, the youngest person to hit a homer in the majors in 14 years. He’ll stay reserved for another week until he shakes out the rust.
