Cut:

  • RP Brad Lincoln
  • OF J.D. Martinez
  • OF Scott Moore

Notes:

  • OF J.D. Martinez was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on August 9th
  • The RoadRunners attempted to pick up Padres reliever Dale Thayer with a $0 bid, but The Pi Train claimed him with a $51 bid. Get Off Kong also had bid $10. His salary was set at $15 from the buzz surrounding his only other save in June.
  • The RoadRunners attempted to pick up Brewers reliever Jim Henderson with a $0 bid, but Get Off Kong had bid $5, and Misogynistic Padres had bid $4.
  • The RoadRunners attempted to pick up Padres starter Eric Stults with a $0 bid, as did the Misogynistic Padres. Goodfellas won the bidding with a $10 bid, edging out The Pi Train’s $9 bid.
  • The RoadRunners attempted to pick up Giants reliever Jeremy Affeldt with a $0 bid, but the Misogynistic Padres had bid $2.

Roster Moves – Week 19 – August 2, 2011

FAAB Acquisitions:

  • OF J.D. Martinez, Astros ($1 bid, add to actives at UT)

Up:

  • 1B Paul Goldschmidt (to CM)
  • SP Charlie Morton

Down:

  • RP Kenley Jansen
  • OF Nate McLouth

Cut:

  • 1B Brandon Allen

Notes:

  • Dodgers RP Kenley Jansen was placed on the 15-Day DL July 27th with a cardiac arrhythmia. He’s expected to be out at least four weeks.
  • Braves OF Nate McLouth was placed on the 15-Day DL July 29th with a sports hernia. He’s expected to be out up to six weeks, possibly for the season.
  • Astros OF Hunter Pence was traded to the Phillies July 29th for 1B Jonathan Singleton, SP Jarred Cosart and two additional players to be named later.
  • Diamondbacks 1B Brandon Allen was traded to the A’s July 31st with RP Jordan Noberto for RP Brad Ziegler. Allen was immediately assigned to Triple-A Sacramento.
  • Diamondbacks 1B Paul Goldschmidt was called up from Double-A Mobile to replace Brandon Allen on the roster.
  • Atomic RoadRunners placed an unsuccessful bid on new Pirates 1B Derrek Lee (traded from Orioles at the deadline). Bids were $68 (Misogynistic Padres), $26 (Shoeless Jews), $19 (Get Off Kong!), and $4 (AaRr).  Goodfellas bid $82, but had already successfully gotten new Cardinals SP Edwin Jackson for $95.

Roster Moves – Week 12 – June 14, 2011

FAAB Acquisitions:

  • C Ronny Paulino, Mets ($6 bid), add to actives
  • 1B Paul Goldschmidt, Diamondbacks ($3 bid), reserve
  • SP Shelby Miller, Cardinals ($1 bid), reserve

Up:

  • OF Matt Holliday
  • SP Tim Stauffer

Down:

  • SP Kyle Lohse
  • OF Jon Jay

Cut:

  • C Henry Blanco
  • RP Vicente Padilla
  • RP Hong-Chih Kuo

Notes:

  • It was announced that RP Vicente Padilla would require surgery on the bulging disc in his neck, the same injury that had him open the season on the DL. He’ll be out a while.
  • Padilla’s teammate on the Dodger’s DL, Hong-Chih Kuo, was released for the second time this season. Kuo had been protected from 2010, was released on May 24th when he went on the DL with an anxiety disorder, was picked up May 31st when his rehab starts went well, and has since hit a bit of a wall.  So, as I’m tired of chasing non-existent Dodgers saves, he and Padilla are gone, as (while all this was going on), Jonathan Broxton is rehabbing as well, and will likely beat him back to the active roster.  We still have Kenley Jansen, however.
  • C Ronny Paulino was released by Cover Zero last week.  (He had been FAAB’d for $0 bid by Cover Zero on May 17th). He then proceeded to go 4-for-4 with a homer and three RBI. This is Paulino’s fourth visit on the RoadRunners.  He was on the roster as a Pirate in 2006 and 2007, and also was on the 2010 Championship squad, before he was suspended for 50 games (PED use) with 42 games left to play.  He’s still no Buster Posey, but he’s seeing more action than Henry Blanco.
  • 1B Paul Goldschmidt leads the minor leagues in home runs at Double-A Mobile, and is rumored to be called up after the All-Star break. In 233 at-bats for the Bay Bears, he is batting .348, with 21 home runs, 59 RBI and 6 steals. Plus, he sports a 53/46 BB/SO ratio.  His OPS is 1.156 – that’s ridiculous.
  • SP Shelby Miller was the No. 1 overall WBRL minor league pick by Misogynistic Padres, but was released April 19th.  Thus his $8 salary. He was the 19th overall pick in 2009 out of a Texas high school, and he is (as per Keith Law) the best pitching prospect in the minors. He dominated Single-A, and was promoted two weeks ago to Double-A.  Probably won’t get called up in 2011.
  • Former 2011 RoadRunner Chris Capuano was grabbed for $12 FAAB by Get Off Kong! (and Chris Narveson was his second contingency bid at $2).
  • Speaking of Narveson, he was selected by Goodfellas for $1 FAAB (GOK!’s $2 would have gotten him), beating out Misogynistic Padres and their $0 bid.
  • Injury Update: 2B Jeff Baker was activated Monday from the 15-Day DL.  OF Matt Holliday will be activated Thursday 6/16 from the 15-Day DL.  OF Nate McLouth remains on the 15-Day DL, but will return in the next week.  RP Kenley Jansen is making rehab appearances, and is likely a week away from returning.
