Roster Moves – Week 1 – April 2nd, 2013

FAAB Acquisitions:

  • SP Kevin Slowey, Marlins ($0 bid, Add to Actives)

  • RP Wilton Lopez

  • SS Rafael Furcal

  • FAAB bidding was fairly intense, and two strong bids of the Roadrunners were superseded.
  • Newly-minted Brewer Kyle Lohse went to The Pi Train, with a $42 bid, while Roadrunners bid $30, Get Off Kong! bid $20, and Misogynistic Padres bid $11.
  • New (temporary) Cardinals closer Mitchell Boggs went for $30 to Goodfellas, with Roadrunners bidding $23, Get Off Kong! bidding $21, and Shoeless Jews bidding $13.
  • New RoadRunner SP Slowey won the #5 starter job with the Marlins, but will be starting Game Two of the season (Wednesday at Washington), as both Nathan Eovaldi and Henderson Alvarez are starting the season on the DL. The only other starters available are Wade LeBlanc and just-called-up phenom Jose Fernandez (#8 prospect overall), who has only pitched in A-Ball thus far. Yikes in Florida.

Roster Moves – Week Zero – March 31st, 2013

  • RP Edward Mujica
  • RP Wilton Lopez
  • SP Ted Lilly
  • SP Michael Wacha
  • This is a one-day “Week Zero”, consisting of Opening Day games of Monday, April 1st.  Week 1 starts Tuesday, April 2nd.
  • SS Rafael Furcal was placed on the 15-Day DL with an elbow strain on March 24th. He has already undergone Tommy John surgery, and will miss all of the 2014 season.
  • 2B Logan Forsythe was placed on the 15-Day DL with a recurrence of plantar fasciitis on March 26th. Expected to fill in at 3B for the also-injured Chase Headley, Forsythe will instead be in a walking boot for three weeks, and then will be expected to miss an additional three weeks during rehab.
  • SP Ted Lilly was placed on the 15-Day DL with a shoulder injury. Lilly underwent shoulder surgery in the offseason, and is a few weeks behind the seven other starters on the Dodgers. The hope is that either Chris Capuano or Aaron Harang might be traded in the interim, and this is assuming Chad Billingsley’s elbow stays attached.
