Roster Moves – Week 4 – April 23rd, 2013

FAAB Acquisition:

  • SP Hiram Burgos, Brewers ($6 bid, Add to Actives)

Up:

  • 1B Freddie Freeman
  • C Russell Martin
  • SP Kevin Slowey

Move:

  • CM Chris Johnson (from 1B)

Down:

  • SP Dan Haren
  • RP Brad Ziegler
  • C Michael McKenry
  • CM Justin Turner

Cut:

  • RP Wilton Lopez

Notes:

  • Braves 1B Freddie Freeman was activated from the 15-Day Disabled List in time for Tuesday’s doubleheader at Colorado. He would have played last night, but the game was snowed out.
  • Dodgers SP Ted Lilly is expected to be activated from the 15-Day DL (shoulder) ahead of Wendesday’s start at the Mets. Lilly has been out all season thus far as he recovers from offseason shoulder surgery. The former abundance of starting pitching the Dodgers had has dried up, as Zack Greinke will be out until late June with a broken collarbone (suffered in the Carlos Quentin brawl), Aaron Harang has been traded, Chris Capuano is on the DL with a strained calf (also suffered in the Greinke/Quentin fight), and yesterday it was announced that Chad Billingsley would undergo Tommy John surgery tomorrow. Yikes.
  • Bidding for Brewers SP Hiram Burgos was competitive: Atomic RoadRunners won him at $6, while The Pi Train bid $2 and Misogynistic Padres bid $0.

Roster Moves – Week 3 – April 16th, 2013

FAAB Acquisitions:

  • C Michael McKenry, Pirates ($0 bid, Add to Actives)
  • RP Brad Ziegler, Diamondbacks ($0 bid, Add to Actives)

Up:

  • IF Justin Turner (to CM)
  • RP Mark Melancon
  • OF Chris Denorfia (to UT)

Down:

  • RP Kyuji Fujikawa
  • C Russell Martin

Cut:

  • 3B Eric Chavez
  • OF Xavier Paul

Notes:

  • On Saturday (April 13th) RP Kyuji Fujikawa was placed on the 15-Day Disabled List with a sprained right forearm.
  • New C Michael McKenry was one of four catchers the RoadRunners bid on this week. Get Off Kong acquired the Cubs Dioner Navarro for $1 (McKenry was his contingency). Contingency bids for the RoadRunners were the Rockies’ Yorvit Torrealba, the afore-mentioned Navarro, and Brewers backup C Martin Maldonado.
  • RP Brad Ziegler was our second contingency behind Lannan and Collmenter.
    • We were outbid for Phillies starter John Lannan. RoadRunners bid $0, but Shoeless Jews bid $1.
    • We were outbid in the chance to re-acquire Diamondbacks swingman Josh Collmenter. We bid $0, but Get Off Kong bid $0 also, so we lost him due to the tie-break (I was in 3rd yesterday, Tom was in 8th).

Roster Moves – Week 2 – April 9th, 2013

FAAB Acquisitions:

  • RP Jim Henderson, Brewers ($39 bid, Add to Actives)
  • OF Xavier Paul, Reds ($1 bid, Add to Actives)
  • 3B Eric Chavez, Diamondbacks ($0 bid, Add to Actives at CM)

Move:

  • 1B Chris Johnson (from CM)

Down:

  • 1B Freddie Freeman
  • RP Mark Melancon
  • OF Chris Denorfia

Cut:

  • 1B Casey Kotchman
  • 2B Logan Forsythe
  • RP Josh Collmenter

Notes:

  • 1B Freddie Freeman was placed on the 15-Day Disabled List with a strained right oblique. Atlanta’s Chris Johnson will slide over from 3B to 1B during Freeman’s absence.
  • 1B Casey Kotchman was placed on the 15-Day Disabled List with a torn left hamstring. It is expected that Kotchman will miss the rest of April.
  • The FAAB bidding for Henderson, who has replaced John Axford as Brewers closer for the time being: $39 – Atomic Roadrunners, $26 The Pi Train, $16 Get Off Kong!, $5 X-Men, $0 Misogynistic Padres
  • The Atomic RoadRunners had bid on Marlins 1B Greg Dobbs, who is replacing Kotchman in the lineup. The bidding: $5 (The Pi Train), $2 (Goodfellas), and  $1 (Atomic RoadRunners).  Chavez was our contingency pick, with Reid Brignac of the Rockies the backup there ($5 to Fear of a Black Ballclub).

Roster Moves – Week 1 – April 2nd, 2013

FAAB Acquisitions:

  • SP Kevin Slowey, Marlins ($0 bid, Add to Actives)

Down:

  • RP Wilton Lopez

Cut:

  • SS Rafael Furcal

Notes:

  • FAAB bidding was fairly intense, and two strong bids of the Roadrunners were superseded.
  • Newly-minted Brewer Kyle Lohse went to The Pi Train, with a $42 bid, while Roadrunners bid $30, Get Off Kong! bid $20, and Misogynistic Padres bid $11.
  • New (temporary) Cardinals closer Mitchell Boggs went for $30 to Goodfellas, with Roadrunners bidding $23, Get Off Kong! bidding $21, and Shoeless Jews bidding $13.
  • New RoadRunner SP Slowey won the #5 starter job with the Marlins, but will be starting Game Two of the season (Wednesday at Washington), as both Nathan Eovaldi and Henderson Alvarez are starting the season on the DL. The only other starters available are Wade LeBlanc and just-called-up phenom Jose Fernandez (#8 prospect overall), who has only pitched in A-Ball thus far. Yikes in Florida.

Roster Moves – Week Zero – March 31st, 2013

Up:
  • RP Edward Mujica
  • RP Wilton Lopez
Down:
  • SP Ted Lilly
  • SP Michael Wacha
Notes:
  • This is a one-day “Week Zero”, consisting of Opening Day games of Monday, April 1st.  Week 1 starts Tuesday, April 2nd.
  • SS Rafael Furcal was placed on the 15-Day DL with an elbow strain on March 24th. He has already undergone Tommy John surgery, and will miss all of the 2014 season.
  • 2B Logan Forsythe was placed on the 15-Day DL with a recurrence of plantar fasciitis on March 26th. Expected to fill in at 3B for the also-injured Chase Headley, Forsythe will instead be in a walking boot for three weeks, and then will be expected to miss an additional three weeks during rehab.
  • SP Ted Lilly was placed on the 15-Day DL with a shoulder injury. Lilly underwent shoulder surgery in the offseason, and is a few weeks behind the seven other starters on the Dodgers. The hope is that either Chris Capuano or Aaron Harang might be traded in the interim, and this is assuming Chad Billingsley’s elbow stays attached.

Roster Moves – Week 28 – October 2nd, 2012 – Final 3 Days!

FAAB Acquisitions:

  • C Hector Sanchez, Giants ($0 bid, Add to Actives)
  • CM Kevin Frandsen, Phillies ($0 bid, Add to Actives)
  • MI Pete Kozma, Cardinals ($0 bid, Add to Actives)
  • UT D.J. LeMahieu, Rockies ($0 bid, Add to Actives)
  • RP Jonny Venters, Braves ($0 bid, Add to Actives)
  • RP Josh Stinson, Brewers ($0 bid, Add to Actives)

Up:

  • SP Edinson Volquez
  • SP Jake Westbrook

Move:

  • OF Donovan Solano (from MI)

Down:

  • RP Jon Axford
  • SP Jhoulys Chacin
  • C Ryan Hanigan
  • CM Chris Johnson
  • MI Logan Forsythe

Cut:

  • OF Travis Snider
  • SS Troy Tulowitzki
  • OF Justin Maxwell
  • SP Wily Peralta
  • SP Zack Greinke
  • RP Luke Gregerson

Notes:

  • All of the pick-ups were made specifically with categories in mind. With only three full days remaining in the season, and the Atomic RoadRunners in first place over Misogynistic Padres by one point, we need all the assistance we can get.
  • Batting Average: Frandsen, LeMahieu, Kozma, and Sanchez are all hitting over .300. Hanigan, Johnson, Forsythe, Snider and Maxwell were dragging on the AVG.
  • ERA: Stinson and Venters were brought aboard to assist. Westbrook and Volquez have both pitched their last games in the regular season, as has Peralta and Greinke, so they can’t help. (Westbrook and Volquez can help by not pitching while on the active roster).
  • Tulowitzki isn’t coming back. He went on the DL back in May. Thanks a lot – you owe me $31.
  • Meanwhile, the Misogynistic Padres also made six pickups (we were the only two teams to make FAAB bids). His were for RBI, SB, AVG, and potentially Saves: OF Alex Presley, C Jason Castro, RP Santiago Casilla (former 2012 RoadRunner), RP Philippe Aumont, RP Jared Hughes, and RP Craig Stammen.

Roster Moves – Week 27 – September 25th, 2012

Up:

  • UT Donovan Solano
  • RP Drew Storen

Move:

  • CM Chris Johnson (from UT)

Down:

  • 3B Todd Frazier (from CM)
  • SP Wily Peralta

Notes:

  • Misogynistic Padres picked up RP Kenley Jansen, for a $2 bid, who we released three weeks ago. It was anticipated that Jansen would be out for the remainder of the year. He is being eased back, and the Dodgers have since acquired Brandon League from the Mariners to be closer.

Roster Moves – Week 26 – September 18th, 2012

FAAB Acquisitions:

  • SP Chris Carpenter, Cardinals ($0 bid, Add to Actives)
  • SP Wily Peralta, Brewers ($0 bid, Add to Actives)
  • OF Justin Maxwell, Astros ($0 bid, Add to Actives)
  • C Dioner Navarro, Reds ($0 bid, Add to Actives)

Up:

  • 3B Todd Frazier (to CM)

Move:

  • MI Logan Forsythe (from UT)
  • UT Chris Johnson (from CM)

Down:

  • RP Drew Storen
  • MI Donovan Solano

Cut:

  • OF Adam Eaton
  • SP Mark Rogers
  • SP Andrew Werner
  • C Kelly Shoppach

Notes:

  • SP Wily Peralta had been released by the RoadRunners on May 22nd.
  • Previously-injured (thoracic outlet syndrome) SP Chris Carpenter had been selected in the 2012 WBRL Auction by Cover Zero for $14. He was released on August 21st.
  • Misogynistic Padres picked up OF Jimmy Paredes for a $0 bid, who we released last week.

Roster Moves – Week 25 – September 11th, 2012

FAAB Acquisitions:

  • SP Andrew Lerner, Padres ($0 bid, Add to Actives)
  • OF Adam Eaton, Diamondbacks ($0 bid, Add to Actives)
  • 2B Donovan Solano, Marlins ($0 bid, Add to Actives)

Up:

  • 3B Chris Johnson (to CM)

Down:

  • 3B Todd Frazier (from CM)
  • SS Zack Cozart (from MI)
  • OF Travis Snider

Cut:

  • OF Jimmy Paredes
  • OF Jose Tabata
  • RP Santiago Casilla

Notes:

  • SS Zack Cozart has been out for several days with an oblique injury.
  • OF Travis Snider has missed several games with a hamstring injury.
  • Cutting C Rob Brantly was a mistake, but when the RoadRunners tried to acquire him, Get Off Kong added him with a $2 bid.
  • Misogynistic Padres tried to acquire both Adam Eaton and Donovan Solano with $0 bids, but since he is higher in the standings, RoadRunners win the tie-breaks.

Roster Moves – Week 24 – September 4th, 2012

FAAB Acquisitions:

  • RP Luke Gregerson, Padres ($0 bid, Add to Actives)
  • OF Chris Denorfia, Padres ($0 bid, Add to Actives)
  • C Kelly Shoppach, Mets ($0 bid, Add to Actives)

Up:

  • 2B Logan Forsythe (to UT)
  • RP Santiago Casilla
  • RP John Axford

Down:

  • OF Jose Tabata
  • UT Jimmy Paredes
  • SP Jake Westbrook
  • SP Mark Rogers

Cut:

  • RP Kenley Jansen
  • OF Eric Young, Jr.
  • C Rob Brantly

Notes:

  • RP Kenley Jansen is out indefinitely with a heart-related condition (just like in 2011). He’s likely done for the season.
  • The Brewers announced that SP Mark Rogers is shut down for the year, following a career-high for innings pitched.
